Sing me a campfire song. Teach me, and I'll sing along.

I can't watch the news today, But I can't turn it off That won't fix me feeling this way That won't make it stop So just how many more do we have to lose Before finally we admit there's no excuse? So when the firing won't stop, I think it's time that we talked To clean all our hands of this blood So lay your guns on the ground There's no need for them now Though I'm not sure there ever was I can't read the news today But I can't put it down That won't take this feeling away So I'll carry it around So gun control, that's fine with me If you can't be safe, what's the use of being free? When living here means we live in fear, Enough is enough If we can't change, then we die in vain Enough is enough is enough So when all this arguing is done, who can say who has won? When all I can see is who's lost So lay your guns on the ground, there's no need for them now Though I'm not sure there ever was

Gentle lies and jagged truths Which should I whisper to you when both can cut you? I chose the first and hid the truth I thought it best to protect you from pain I wouldn't make that choice again I know I'm often wrong But I never claimed to know it all Sure, I've got my vices and faults But know, I never meant to do you harm When all your tears, an ocean make I promise whatever it takes, I'll do To make it up to you But it’s not so plain, not so simple When each mistake leaves a ripple I know I'm often wrong But I never claimed to know it all Sure, I've got my vices and faults But know, I never meant to do you harm

The Whaler 04:05
A warning to those who would sail the seas, If it's whale that you're after, listen carefully Some say he's a ghost, some say he's make believe But there’s no doubt in the trail that he leaves They say from a young age, the sea was his home Aboard a whaling vessel, not unlike your own 'Til one fateful night, something attacked from below And from that sinking ship, escaped he alone From the deep, the beast did rise 'twas a whale of enormous size And the last he could recall, it swallowed him whole He awoke, safe on the shore Now, surely you have heard, the talk in the town Once in a moon now, a ship runs aground Some choose to believe that in a storm, they've all drowned But no crew is ever found One by one, they go to their resting place below He looks each in the eye, shoves a spear in their side And sends them to their salty sleep There’s no way to tell where he is today No one knows his name, no one knows his face He could be anywhere, he could be any old place Planning who next he’ll erase Don't think that you can outswim If you're one on his list, there's no escaping him Don't think that he won't come for you He's already on your ship, yes he's one of your crew He's looked you in the eye, seen how you will die And he can't wait to see it again

Doppelganger 04:56
My heart, it can change at the drop of a dime My head, it just tries to keep it in line My heart is a swing, my head is a strong wind Try as I might, to see things through I slip, falter, I always do When my head is at work, my heart is the weekend When things fall apart, my heart knows the pain To lift me back up, it’s up to my brain My heart’s under attack and my head’s an escape pod Because my heart, it knows what it is to yearn But you need some sense to make sense of the burn When my heart is a storm, my head is a lightning rod Far too often, they disagree And i’m left with the feeling there’s two of me Changing my clothes or changing my mind Feels like the same thing some of the time Try this one on, see how it fits you Consider the options, pick what feels right Change several times ‘fore you leave for the night My heart is a swing, my head is a swing too My head is not so easily swayed But my heart won’t quit, it keeps pulling away My heart is the moon, my head is the ocean They share the same victory, the same defeat And it takes both to lie and to cheat My heart’s playing games, but my head is coaching Only too often, they disagree I’m left with the sensation there’s two of me Though they may clash, they meet the same fate To get there, they have to cooperate My head is the map, my heart is the compass My heart’s got ideas, it does what it can But my head’s got other plans My heart’s laying eggs, my head’s making omelettes My heart, it keeps searching for what it ain’t found My head sometimes tries just to shut it all down My heart is a migrant, my head is a brick wall But walls, they can fall and ladders are cheap Holes can be dug in the ground underneath Heads and hearts find a way, no matter how tall Oh how often we disagree And I'm not talking respectfully But we've all got heads and hearts Yeah, we're all made of the same parts Same desire, same fear as well Constant conflict in our heads and our hearts Our own picture hangs where we're throwing darts We're all just at war with ourselves So think with your heart, love with your head It’s not one or the other, it’s both ‘til you’re dead

Doesn’t it feel so strange, so very strange? That when we have gone from this place, The house remains, the house remains Just as it was, but not the same, no Never the same, never the same Now we are packing our things, Yeah, we’re packing our things Saying hello to that old, familiar sting That leaving brings, yeah, leaving brings Saying goodbye to a place that we love, it always stings It always stings I know home is where your heart is And a heart needs more than a roof and a floor So the house is just where your stuff sits But I was happy here We’re walking away, ‘cause we have to Saying few things mean less than your current address But i’ve grown somewhat attached to mine There are more important things Than the numbers on the box that you sleep in And I don’t want to leave, but they’ve asked us to leave So we’re leaving Now we must be moving on, yeah, moving on It’s over so, better get gone Move along, move along From a place where we love and we grow Now just a place that we used to call home We used to call home I know home is where your heart is And a heart needs more than a roof and a floor So the house is just where your stuff sits But I was happy here We’ll keep our heads up, ‘cause we have to Saying few things mean less than your current address But i’ve grown somewhat attached to mine There are more important things Than the numbers on the door our slip your key in And I’d like for us to stay, but we can’t afford to stay So we’re leaving.

Throw another log on the fire I'm too young to feel this tired In that humbling peace of the forest I know that I am but a tourist Throw another log on the fire I'm too young to feel this tired In that humbling peace of the forest Can I be more than just a tourist?
